Heavy-wall heat shrink tubing Ø4 to 200 mm, length 1 m

During an intervention on a low voltage network, a junction of buried cables was protected by a tubing to heavy wall Ø45/13 mm. After tightening, the tubing created a hard hull around the connection, preventing the earth and sand from entering and protecting the junction against the ground settlement constraints. Years later, the audits revealed the integrity of the seal.

At an underground railway modernisation site, low-voltage power beams were replaced in wet areas with high mechanical stress. The cables crossed a narrow tunnel, regularly subjected to vibrations due to train passage and runoff. In order to protect the junctions and avoid any deterioration over time, the teams used heat-retractable ducts at the heavy wall, placed in segments on each connection. After tightening, the tubing formed a rigid hull that perfectly marries shapes, resistant to shocks, projections and infiltrations. Two years after installation, the equipment was inspected and no evidence of wear or corrosion was found, confirming the reliability of the choice.

The tubing to heavy wall provides an extended service range (–40 °C to +110 °C on average) and starts retracting from 110 °C. It has a dielectric rigidity of about 17 kV/mm and excellent resistance to abrasion.

In line with RoHS/REACH standards, it is generally halogen-free and only available in black. Lengths available in 1 meter or 1.22 m.

The tubing to heavy wall is at the top of the hierarchy of conventional heat-retractable protections. More rigid and more resistant than wall ducts thin or medium, it is the preferred solution for hostile environments : underground networks, heavy industrial sites, marine environments, or connections subject to high mechanical stresses.

In version with internal adhesive, it becomes a real sealing system, guaranteeing sealing and durability.

The range is less extensive than for medium wall tubings, but ACLP offers a wide and complete range of diameter 4 to diameter 200 mm.
