The Right Tools

To install heat-shrink tubing easily and efficiently, all you need is the right equipment and the right technique.

But don't worry, we'll explain everything.

Let's get started!

First, gather your supplies. You will need:

  • A good heat gun, also called a heat gun or heat gun, which you will use to shrink the tubing.
  • Heat-shrink tubing, available from your local hardware store.

Once you have all your equipment and your workspace set up, start by cutting your tubing to size with a utility knife if necessary. Don't cut the tubing too short, as it will shrink and lose about 10% of its length.

Once cut, insert your heat-shrink tubing onto your product. This will likely be the most difficult step if the area where you want to place the tubing is hard to reach.

If the area where you want to install your tubing is too difficult to access, you can also use self-vulcanizing tape, which is also very strong; it will fuse together and prevent any leaks.

Once your heat-shrink tubing is properly positioned, take your heat gun and rotate it evenly around the tubing to distribute the heat uniformly.

The heat-shrink tubing should then begin to shrink.

Be careful not to overheat the tubing, as this could damage it, and let it cool for a few minutes before touching it.

And there you have it!

You have successfully installed your heat-shrink tubing.

For installation in locations without electricity or in hard-to-reach areas, there are self-contained gas-powered hot air guns available.
